About the project

Overview

IAS Alliance operates over the whole development spectrum from humanitarian, to resilience and development. Historically, most of the interventions have been focused on the humanitarian and development sector. With the newly created “Resilience Fund”, IAS Alliance aim to gain a better understanding of resilience and disaster risk reduction with a combination of the two focus areas of the “fund”: focus on the development of understanding, attitudes and practices regarding resilience, and; strengthening communities, organisations and individuals in their ability to prevent and adapt to climate change and environmental degradation, conflicts or other factors that expose communities, organisations and individuals to stress, shock or uncertainty. This pilot-project will use IAS Kenya and IAS Ethiopia as case studies to gain knowledge regarding resilience causes, gaps, coping mechanisms and strategies.

Development goal

The project is contributing to the Sustainable Development Goal 1 (End poverty in all its forms everywhere) and indicator 1.5:

By 2030, build the resilience of the poor and those in vulnerable situations and reduce their exposure and vulnerability to climate-related extreme events and other economic, social and environmental shocks and disaster.
